Another SCALES Crew Victory
SCALES Pro Team member Captain Art Sapp and his Native Son fishing team emerged victorious in the 16th annual Sailfish Challenge. The 52-boat, 466-angler tourney kicked off with an amazing party in Dania Beach (hosted by the International Game Fish Association) and followed with two days of fishing from Palm Beach to Miami, during which a total of 427 sailfish were released.
A Back-and-Forth Battle
The Sailfish Challenge was a hard-fought, back-and-forth battle from lines out on Friday to lines in on Saturday. Miss Britt jumped out to an early lead on day one, winning the Early Bite in the process. Not to be outdone, SCALES-sponsored Native Son surged with 6 releases in the second half of the day, scoring the Late Bite. Their 12 releases for the day were enough to put them in second place, 1 release behind Good Call. While team D&D scored the daily win on day 2, Native Son and Good Call, along with Kluch/Reel Easy slugged it out for the overall top spot. Finally, with only minutes left in the tournament, Native Son scored their 20th release, breaking a tie with Good Call and securing the victory along with a $130,655 purse.
SCALES - Official Sponsor of Quest for the Crest
SCALES is excited to be the official apparel sponsor for the Quest for the Crest Sailfish Series and we look forward to seeing which team will be awarded the top tournament sailfish team in south Florida and have the honor of wearing the coveted Crest jackets at the end of the Final Sail event in Miami on April 3-7.
