SCALES TEAM UTOPIA brings in a strong second place during their first outing of four in the Quest for the Crest Sailfish Series.

We came into the first tournament of the series, Operation Sailfish, with very high hopes of placing top 5 in the event.

Over the years of fishing all I have learned is that It all comes down to preparation, strategy and commitment. When preparation meets luck it equals success. That is exactly what happened for us during Operation Sailfish. Our boat was ready, our baits looked great, we did our homework and we got the variable factor which is luck to our side; allowing us to snag a second place outcome which we are definitely very proud of.

Day one began a little slow for us, we missed some fish early in the morning which as you know often kills the vibe on the boat. We shook it off quickly after a double minutes after. Once we got beyond the morning hickups we did not miss a fish all day, finishing up with 8 releases and a 2nd and 3rd place daily on day one.

Day two we knew that we had to ramp it up quick. We slowly got on the fish, always a couple of fish shy from the overall lead. We ended up with 5 releases for day two for a total of 13 releases overall giving us the 2nd place overall on the tournament.
Next stop for us will be Sailfish 400 in Miami. Hoping for great fishing and great times.
We will be applying this same concept in the remainder of the season hoping for great results.
Special thanks to our apparel sponsor SCALES for such a great product keeping us warm and dry through out the cold and breezy conditions during the tournament.
